The pink lady is huge on a geographical scale, she takes up space and she does so with pride, elegance, comfort, nonchalance and determination. She’s an answer to society’s demand that women are to be petite and dainty, quiet and compliant. She refuses not to be seen or heard.

Onyfir is a self-published picturebok about Borgarfjörður eystri, a fishing village in the East of Iceland. It illustrates the unique and eccentric way of life and the colourful characters of this tiny village.
I spent November 2017 at Thread, an art residency in the village of Sinthian in Senegal. My goal was to document the everyday life of locals through illustrations. They are all drawn live, in pencil and watercolour, while walking around the village.
